Zujaila Ornelas is currently the Student Recruitment and Family Engagement Coordinator for the CAMP Scholars Project under the School of Transborder Studies. She is responsible for providing intensive academic, personal, and financial counseling to college students from migrant and seasonal farmworker background, with the goal of continued enrollment and graduation from ASU. Further, she disseminates educational information in Spanish and English to pre-college youth and families.
Prior to joining the CAMP Scholars' team, Zujaila was the Coordinator for Student Organizations, where she served as a resource to student organizations through ongoing advisement, support, and consultation to student leaders. She also coordinated and developed programs and events in an effort to enhance student learning and skill-development outside the classroom.
She is passionate about helping students reach their full potential and achieve personal and professional success. Her research areas include first-generation college students, student success and retention, and college access and adjustment.
