Join an outreach or research initiative

If you’re interested in transforming Chicana/o and Latina/o communities within the United States/Mexico border territory and beyond, the School of Transborder Studies is the perfect fit. We offer a variety of ways for you to get involved: gain experience in our TCL 305 Practicum and Field Research Class, work with a faculty member on their research project, developing your own research agenda and work with a faculty member to receive course credit (TCL 499), apply for our research scholarship, and more. 

Study abroad and globalize your worldview

Studying abroad is a great way to experience Chicana/o and Latina/o cultural dynamics, political processes and historical contexts firsthand in different parts of the world. Deepening your understanding of the migration experience will foster a critical worldview and increase your commitment to creating positive social change for transborder communities. You’ll also learn how to become a true global citizen which will enhance your resume.

Take advantage of our academic resources

The Tempe campus is home to various academic resources, from subject-specific tutoring and academic mentoring to computer labs and supplemental instruction for select courses. You’ll have access to all the resources you need to succeed throughout your college experience. If you have any questions about where to find our student services, talk to your academic advisor who will be happy and eager to assist you.

The Math Center

If you need help with your math requirement course, we encourage you to see a tutor at the math center located in WXLR (PSA) 116, PV East Sunspot or BAC 16. Click here to find a tutor near you.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center is a great tool for undergraduate and graduate students who need assistance at any stage of the writing process. You can visit a writing tutor in person at UASB 140 or online.

Computer Lab

As a student in the School of Transborder Studies, you also have access to a computer lab in Interdisciplinary Building B, 163. During the fall 2020 semester, the lab is open Monday — Thursday from 9am to 4pm. There will be limited capacity to ensure physical distancing; face coverings are required.
